While tourism remains an important sector for the economy, there is woefully inadequate training available for all stakeholders in the industry.
Hospitality institutes are narrowly focussed on creating graduates that will gain employment in the organised hotel and restaurants industry.
Goa needs to be able to certify and license everybody working in the tourism industry. The scope of such training could include:
– tour guides
– taxi operators
– airport and railway station staff
– tourism police
– foreign exchange units
– bike/car rental services
– beach shack staff
– BnB/guest house staff
