Being a Goan, and in the travel business for the last 15+ years (BestGoaDeals.com), my dream for Goa is to be well approved by all who come in the state. The idea of Goa should be a holiday, and every traveller who visits should go back with great memories. However, the status before the COVID lockdown phase seems to be a little different. The touts selling activities by the road or some activity operators not following safety compliance’s is giving a wrong impression about Goa as a Brand. These issues are seen by everyone, but are not highlighted.
But what I wan to mention about is the big error in the Local Sightseeing part.
A North Goa tour consists of :
Calangute, Baga, Arpora, Anjuna.. Morjim, etc.
And South Goa tour consists of Panjim, Miramar, Old Goa…?
That is so wrongly pitched by the taxi and local tour operators. It was a shocker when I saw this being promoted by a hotel in their lobby as well. That is surely not the right information we are sharing with the tourists. This must have been done to avoid long travel options, but thats not the point.
My claim is :
North Goa : Include everything thats in North Goa – Calangute, Baga, etc.
For South Goa : include everything thats in South Goa – Margao, Colva, Varca, etc.
But for Panjim, Miramar, Donapaula, Old Goa.. dont call South Goa, you can call it a “Central Goa Tour” instead. I think that will work better and give Goa its right demographic value.
